The present Telangana issue is an outburst of regionalism in the name of pacifying popular sentiments and propagating the vote bank politics. It’s sure that without any concrete planning as per the constitution of a new state, such demands should not be adhered to.

I dont understand why every one wants their own territory, whats the need of separation. Well, might they dont know united we stand divided we fall! Its not just telangana asking for a separate state. All over the country you will notice such things, remember making of jharkhanda and all. If this separation process continues than sooner or later there would be demand for having a separate nation, India would be just remain a name only.

The creation of smaller states, as the single solution to all problems, is not wise decision at all. The governments should work to implement the welfare policies to each of the backward regions in the state. They should make it sure that the development is properly distributed to all the regions.

The Telengana movement is all political drama and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti is not less than a joke in Andhra Pradesh politics. After spending three and half years in UPA they found their association as wrong and blamed UPA for not considering their demand. Till now, no visible progress has been made so far. All the leaders in Andhra are just talking about it in media. After all, who would decide who would get Hyderabad?

No, I don’t agree. India is a democratic country and every Indians have the rights of freedom of speech and expression. It is the duty of the state to work for the welfare of the state. In a democratic country like India, a section of the people have the right to demand a separate state, if they are not happy with the governance of the current state.

What I think is no one can make an argument whether a separate state or smaller state would receive better options for development. It actually depends on the vision of political leadership and if the leadership has the vision they can even develop bigger states too.

The uneven development of the country is result of double-standard policies of previous central governments. When a selected number of states get central funds and industrial and irrigation developments, the other states would feel as cheated. MPs and MLAs should take care of the people of their constituencies to make sure that their regions received due importance and their own shares in the central funds.

The people sitting in New Delhi will have to start working hard for balanced development of the states, otherwise the regional parties would try to take advantages of the backwardness of their states in elections by demanding smaller states for the people of backward regions. If it doesn’t happen in due time, we will see many more demands for separate states in coming days.

The productivity of any region cannot improve just in day when it becomes a separate state but the smaller state brings up additional expenses with no great resource of earnings. They will become dependent on central funds only.

Demands and protests for smaller states are all political drama. Political leaders take initiative for separate state agitations just to win seats and to remain in power. What is happening now that the common people are being associated with such movements. They start thinking smaller states/separate states are the key of better development that is wrong perception.

Creating smaller states sounds like breaking down a joint family and it is always a painful process for the people living in the region. Smaller states cannot magic when the question comes to the normal life of the common people of the region.

Its all power game. Lalu Prasad once had said that the separate Jharkhand could be made only on his dead body but later he accepted because for him Jharkhand was not his political belt and creating Jharkhand will always give him the chance to rule the separate Bihar. Unfortunately Lalu lost power in Bihar and after eight years of creation, Jharkhand is as it was in 1999. Mayawati is doing the same thing and TRS is trying to do the same.

Telangana is must for the people living in the region. There are three regions in Andhra Pradesh - coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana. Everyone in the state says that Telangana, region of 10 districts, is the most neglected of the three. Scarcity of water is the biggest problem in the region despite the presence of rivers like Krishna and Godavari.

Today, Telangana can be seen as the best example of discrimination in India, particularly in South India. The region has given two chief ministers to Andhra and one prime minister to the country but still the region is backward than other two regions in Andhra Pradesh. The literacy rates in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema are 46% and 45% but it is just 37% in Telangana. There is only one university out of eleven and 20 polytechnics out of 91 in the state. This is why Telangana people are asking for separate state.

I would still prefer smaller states because the smaller states have more revenue and less expenditure on leaders and bureaucracy. Political stability is one important thing we can have in smaller states.

If that is how you see the functioning of Democracy then most nations in the world are in serious trouble. If you are not happy with the administration then change it with the power of your vote and by spreading awareness. If smaller states can improve bad administration over night then we would have been a nation of 75 states by now.

We do not have a strong Central Government and that is the root cause for all over internal problems. I wish Delhi would tame all these rogue organizations into silence so that we preserve our national integrity. It is high time the government did something!

I do not know if they are all exactly ’rogue organizations’, but they sure as hell cause more trouble than needed and the demands are just irrational and only aimed at fulfilling their own personal political ambitions. It is sad that the vast majority are falling for the trap.
