I read it to mean that because the website did not provide a an ”out,” for individuals who did not wish to share information on sexual orientation, it was in violation of privacy rights with an undertone of discrimination for forcing this kind of information disclosure. As a side point, I will say Internet law is a highly overlooked field, and interestingly enough you hear little about this type of practice of law. In an information technology driven environment, there is much more of a need to crack down and police the inter-workings from safety and security, to privacy, and web site originator tracking policies. I am amazed that the internet is now a porthole used by so many to conduct business and exchange information, yet still the amount of laws that exist to protect and regulate this business tool are limited in regards to the size of the beast we call our computer. It seems to now be the end users responsibility to protect themselves as a sort of ”test of” ones computer savvy abilities to avoid either being taken for a fool, or taken advantage of.
